Our extra special critters
The dashing black horses you see are “Rooster Cogburn” and Micah, both Tennessee Walking Horses that I ride around the area and at Biltmore, DuPont Forest, and Pisgah Forest. They are both trained using natural horsemanship and are barefoot.
We have a friendly barn cat who lives in the basement of the barn house (never in the house) and have a cat door so he can enjoy the great outdoors. His name is Max, and he was adopted from the local humane society. He gets along with everybody at the farm.
Recent additions are Gilbert and Cora, a bonded pair of Bantam ducks whose job is insect control and plain old entertainment. They are a scream to watch! So far they have had 2 ducklings, Mary and Edith.
